We can also speak with you about financial assistance, including if you do not have insurance. At Saint Vincent, it is our mission to provide medically necessary treatment and service to all people, regardless of their ability to pay for care.
If you have any questions about your hospital bill, health insurance or reimbursement amount, please call our Customer Service Department at (814) 452-5011 or toll-free at 1-844-801-8400. Representatives are available to assist you with information, payments and financial options weekdays between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM.
We take many health insurance plans, as do the doctors who provide your care here. Our Financial Counseling office can help you with coverage and payment information. The office can estimate the cost of your hospital care at Saint Vincent Hospital and compare it to your verified insurance benefits.
It is important to note that most insurance policies, including Medicare, have deductibles or co-payments that you must cover for hospitalization. You can ask your nurse to help you meet with a financial counselor to discuss payment options.
If you entered the hospital as an urgent admission (via Emergency Department or doctor’s order), a financial counselor can work with your family member. Together, they can ensure you receive the maximum coverage from your insurance benefits.
Please remember to bring your identification and health insurance cards to the hospital, or have a family member do so. We can then verify your insurance coverage promptly and efficiently.
If you do not have health insurance, you may benefit from an application for state medical assistance. An interview with a Saint Vincent financial counselor can be arranged during your stay. Our business office will continue to assist you to complete the application after discharge.
Saint Vincent strives, however, to help all patients with financial burdens — including those who have no insurance and do not qualify for state assistance. This mission is communicated to patients and their family members through signs posted in the hospital and, whenever possible, by financial counselors.
With our Community Care Program, a financial service representative conducts an evaluation designed to verify the need for assistance, a process that is entirely confidential. You are asked to record your income, outline your expenses and present some proof to support these numbers. Eligible patients can then make special payment arrangements, and free or discounted care is available to those who qualify.
To receive more information about these arrangements, call the financial service office at (814) 452-5011 or dial extension 5011 on your hospital telephone. The Saint Vincent Community Care Program brochure can also help you determine if you may qualify.
If you owe money for a deductible or uncovered expenses, we first let you know before your admission or early in your hospital stay. You should pay these bills in full before your discharge. If you have difficulty paying these expenses or would like to make payment arrangements, a financial service representative can stop by your room to discuss your options.
