Visiting Saint Vincent Maternity Patient

We realize that a hospitalization can disrupt daily life for the new mom and her loved ones. In order to make the hospital stay as positive as possible, Saint Vincent has compiled some basic information to introduce you to our guidelines and services.

We are committed to protecting the confidentiality and privacy of our patients, so please understand that patient information can only be given to the persons designated by the patient.

Visitor policy

It is our policy to provide the childbearing family with an environment that promotes parent/infant bonding. Visitors and extended family members are encouraged to visit during designated times that best support the new family. Visit AHN Visitation Hours and Policies for the latest updates.

Security

We're committed to ensuring the security of all of our patients. Most entrances to Saint Vincent are opened at 5:00 AM and locked at 8:00 PM, with the exception of the emergency department entrance on West 24th Street, which remains open 24 hours a day.

The information desk staff, in our main lobby, are happy to help you locate a patient or a visitor between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM daily. If you need a patient's room number, a map to find a particular area, even a listing of area hotels/motels and restaurants, they can assist you.

Visitor telephones

Telephones are located in the 5th floor waiting area and telephones are located in the lobby of the hospital.

Patient telephone calls

Telephones are connected in all patient rooms. Please be considerate of our patients’ need for rest and do not call late at night. You may call a patient directly by dialing the seven-digit room telephone number.

If you do not know the room phone number please call our information desk at (814) 452-5800. This telephone is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Unlimited local calls may be made from the patient’s room by dialing “9” and the seven-digit number. Long distance calls must be charged to a telephone credit card or called collect. Use of cellular phones is not permitted in the hospital because the transmission can interfere with the medical equipment monitoring our patients and babies.

5th floor waiting area

A lounge for family and friends is located on the fifth floor between the L&D area and postpartum. The phones in the waiting area are provided for the extended family and friends of patients in Labor and Delivery to receive periodic updates on the patient’s progress and condition.

Children's playroom

Young children are welcome to visit. When they need a break, bring them to our Austin’s Playroom. This child-centered spot, with toys and games, is for children age 3 to 12, when accompanied by an adult. It’s on the main floor. Follow signs to the cafeteria.
